The Month of Gubbi

Oh heeeeeeeeey interwebs!

So I wish I had a better excuse for my absence over the past few weeks, and I kinda do (friends in town from Germany and England, Eid holidays, etc.) but truth be told the biggest reason I haven’t been blogging is because I quit my job (woohoo!) but I’m not starting my new job until early December (double woohoo!). In between, I am taking a “Month of Gubbi” which was supposed to involve catching up on all manner of Important Life Admin things (sorting out our US taxes, pulling together docs for my new visa, servicing the cars, etc.) but in reality has so far consisted of sleeping in, watching reality TV, making bracelets, and oh yeah, eating Fatburger on the beach:

Anyhow, when you’re not trapped in front of a computer being a PowerPoint monkey and Excel junkie 12 hours a day, you’d be surprised how difficult it is to find the procrastinatory motivation to blog, or do, well… any of the productive things you would usually do to break up the monotony of working.

Case in point, this exchange which I just had with Alex on BBM -

Alex: What are you up to hon?

Alex: Watching “Keeping Up With the Kardashians”?

Me: … [cagey pause] maybe.

Me: Fine, it’s on in the background while I do emails - I’m actually being productive!

Alex: I read the above as “while I do my nails” and I was going to say, wow, we may need to revisit your definition of “productive” before you go back to work.

But never fear, high-school-friends-who-email-harass-me-when-I-don’t-blog (lookin’ at you, J.Wo)… I’m back!
